Mini Data Centers for Manufacturing Floors and Network Nodes
by Andreas Fischer
More and more connected machines, sensors, and IoT devices generate data directly on the factory floor, in the warehouse, or at network nodes, often too much to route first to a distant data center. Lehmann IT's EDGE COMPUTING CoolRack is a self-contained mini data center in cabinet form that processes data right where it originates. The cabinet combines integrated rack climate control, fire early detection, rack monitoring via an Ethernet box, and a UPS rated at 5,000 to 10,000 watts with an automatic door opener, with an optional fire-protection housing available on request. That means the complete infrastructure runs independently, with no traditional server room required. Manufactured entirely in Germany, the EDGE COMPUTING CoolRack suits connected robotics on the production floor, automated conveyor systems in warehouses, and latency-critical applications at network nodes, anywhere reliable, self-contained compute power is needed on-site.
